My Learning Diary
The 1st Week 4/6

On the first day of school, there was a placement test and I got assigned to level A1.4.I wasn’t happy with this arrangement because I thought that my Spanish proficiency should be higher than that level. The next day,I asked my teacher if I could change to a higher level class. I remembered that she replied me: ‘If we were speaking Spanish, you wouldn’t have been in this class’ It kept me thinking for a while as, after a few days of classes, I knew I was wrong. Even though this was class A1, the teaching materials and the contents were more difficult than what I have learned in Hong Kong. It was true that I wasn’t familiar with the usage of past tense. Studying in level A1.4, I could have a review my past knowledge such as present tense and learn new things little by little. It was crucial building up a strong foundation of the basic grammar first. Most importantly, if I had really gotten in A2, I wouldn’t have understood what the teacher was saying in class.
5/6 Tue
There was a 15-minute break in between two hours of two classes. We called it as the coffee break because, in this 15 minute, we bought coffee from the vending machine and drank it in this place. It was a great time to make new friends and practice Spanish with other students!

I lived in this big house with 5 of my schoolmates and also people from Germany, Italy, UK, USA and Japan. It has 2 floors and a terrace. I always loved chatting with two English speakers in Spanish from UK and USA which was really weird. But it was good to speak more Spanish in the house.
2nd Week
12/6
I had 4 hours of class every mon to Fri.I like that speaking and interesting class activities involved a lot in the classroom. For example, my Spanish teacher Muses brought the whole class to a market nearby and we learned the vocabularies of the food there. He also played a board game with us so we could be familiar with the usage of conjunctions in the verb forms and could learn Spanish in a fun way.

Muses introduced some Spanish music in class. He was even dancing and singing along. He is the funniest teacher I've ever met in Spain.Jajaja!!!
14/6 Thursday
My First and Last Bullfighting Experience

I went to watch bullfighting with my housemates on Thursday night. This is a traditional activity in Spain. In each bullfighting, there were six bulls killed. It was unbelievably bloody and violent for those helpless bulls were speared to death. The feelings were even stronger when I watch it in person. I could do nothing but sat there to watch the whole process and show my compassion. Even though I was just a spectator, I couldn’t stand these cruel behaviors when I saw those bulls bleeding. This Bull Fighting experience would be my first and last time and I really think that it should be banned like Catalonia region did.
After the bullfighting event, we went home at 11:30 pm but my classmates were doing revision together because there would be a test tomorrow which would decide if we could get promoted to level A2 in the following 2 weeks. Infected by their hardworking atmosphere, I decided to stay up a little bit and joined them. Let's hope we can get a pass of the test!!!
